Ministerial Visit to Bandung – Strengthening Skills and Inclusive Value Chains 🇨🇭🤝🇮🇩
As part of the Swiss economic mission to Indonesia, Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin visited POLMAN Bandung and the KPBS Dairy Cooperative in Pangalengan—two important partners under SECO Economic Cooperation and Development-supported initiatives.
At POLMAN, the delegation celebrated over 50 years of Swiss–Indonesian cooperation in vocational education and training—a cornerstone of the bilateral partnership and a lasting Swiss legacy. A highlight was the signing of the Renewable Energy Skills Development (RESD) and Swiss Skills for Competitiveness (SS4C) programmes, reaffirming Switzerland’s commitment to equipping Indonesia’s workforce for a sustainable and competitive future. The visit also included a laboratory tour, showcasing Swiss contributions and dual training models.
The event was joined by Vice Minister of Higher Education Prof. Stella Christie and Vice Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Mr. Yuliot Tanjung.
In Pangalengan, the delegation witnessed how the Promise II Impact project empowers MSMEs and farmers through digital innovation and financial inclusion, with the participation of OJK Chairman Mahendra Siregar and Deputy Minister Ali Murtopo Simbolon.
As Federal Councillor Parmelin remarked: “Together, we are not only building skills but also building bridges between our countries and our people.” He added that he was “especially pleased to see first-hand how the Promise II Impact project is helping farmers improve productivity, resilience, and sustainability in West Java.”
These visits reaffirm Switzerland’s long-term partnership with Indonesia and underscore its alignment with SECO’s Cooperation Programme 2025–2028: Supporting Indonesia’s Transformation to a Sustainable, Resilient and Competitive Economy, in collaboration with GFA (RESD), Swisscontact (SS4C), and the International Labour Organization (Promise II Impact).
